Footage Released of Life-Saving Rescue at Sabiha Gökçen Airport

Footage has emerged showing the life-saving intervention that rescued two-year-old Liam after he began choking on a bead at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

On May 19, 2026, terminal officers Tolga Çiçin, Esmagül Bostancı and Talha Kahyaoğlu were on patrol in the International Arrivals Hall when they noticed the family in distress and responded immediately. The team performed the Heimlich manoeuvre, successfully dislodging the bead from the child’s airway and allowing Liam to breathe again.

The management of Sabiha Gökçen Airport later presented certificates of appreciation to the three terminal officers in recognition of their swift and effective response, which helped prevent a potentially fatal incident.
